Ground Disturbance Training - 101 and 201 Standards

The Training Standards Committee (TSC) currently has two different training standards: the Ground Disturbance 101 Standard and the Ground Disturbance 201 Standard. When taking an endorsed training program, you can be sure the content you are acquiring is consistent, accurate and endorsed by all stakeholders.

Training programs endorsed to the Ground Disturbance 101 Standard contain content appropriate for all individuals who participate in ground disturbance activities under acceptable supervision. A ground disturbance worker with this training is not qualified to independently create or perform a ground disturbance, nor are they in a position to direct others in ground disturbance activities.

Training programs endorsed to the Ground Disturbance 201 Standard contain content appropriate for those supervising a ground disturbance. Supervisory level ground disturbance training is intended to provide students with the necessary information to manage ground disturbance activities near buried facilities safely, with the intended goals of preventing damage to buried facilities and complying with regulatory requirements.

Both of these standards were developed to identify the minimum content that anyone on a ground disturbance site should know and understand in their roles. These standards also ensure that endorsed training providers protect the student information collected and the integrity of examinations and learner certificates.
