The first of a two-part virtual workshop was held on August 30-31st, and nearly 100 registrants signed up to participate. Pegged as a “deep dive” into linen loss, the session kicked off with ALM executive director, industry veteran, and longtime instructor for the Laundry & Linen College, Sarah Brobeck, leading a group discussion on the changing landscape in healthcare linen management, including an explanation of how linen departments and laundry operations are being impacted by a shift to outpatient services in hospitals. The program was developed in response to the many laundry operators who had reached out to ALM for advice on the perplexing and unprecedented amount of linen loss occurring.
The Laundrymarks benchmarking platform allows you to compare your organization’s performance, processes, or services against your counterparts in the industry. Laundries seeking performance improvement, inspiration for innovation, to uncover opportunities for improving efficiency and cost reduction, validation and accountability and to gain a competitive advantage can start entering FY22 operational data today.

A pilot group of 17 laundries recently completed entering their data and are now taking advantage of the real-time access to filtering and reporting features available in the platform.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a final rule that will require certain employers in designated high-hazard industries to electronically submit injury and illness information – that they are already required to keep – to the department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The final rule takes effect on Jan. 1, 2024, and now includes the following submission requirements:

 •   Establishments with 100 or more employees in certain high-hazard industries must electronically submit information from their Form 300-Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, and Form 301-Injury and Illness Incident Report to OSHA once a year. These submissions are in addition to submission of Form 300A-Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses.

Greenville, N.C. – August 23, 2023 – As the laundry conduit for the world’s largest medical complex, the Texas Medical Center Hospital Laundry (TMCHL) Co-Op Association in Houston is now busier than ever. Three years ago the COVID-19 pandemic caused the hospitals to curtail services that led to a sharp decrease in patients and a steep drop in laundry volume. With the health crisis officially over and a new management team in place, the co-op has successfully turned the corner and is now achieving production levels above pre-pandemic levels.
