The key to a safe and productive work environment is rigorous safety training. Donald Bock, principal with Seabright Safety Solutions, says he routinely sees safety training underemphasized at work sites until there is an incident — and then safety training comes into sharper focus. However, safety training should always remain in the foreground, particularly at facilities with potentially hazardous conditions to navigate. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) agrees.

Monarch Brands recently merged with Hospeco Brands Group, a United States-based, full line manufacturer of personal care, cleaning, and protection products to serve the janitorial, industrial supply, automotive, foodservice, healthcare, and hospitality markets.
“This merger is the natural evolution for the growth of Monarch Brands and Hospeco Brands Group. Together, we bring complementing products and talents into a single focus point to benefit all stakeholders," said Hal Kanefsky, president of Monarch Brands.
All key management and sales staff will remain with Monarch Brands. Existing shared distribution in certain key markets is expected to accelerate market penetration. There are no changes to existing customer relationships at this time.

 Over the last couple years, Yamamoto North America has hosted a contest among their distributors for an all-expenses paid trip to Japan. The trip promised far more than a simple factory tour. Attendees would get to experience several different parts of Japan and gain a deep understanding for the people and culture that helped mold Yamamoto’s brand.

The trip was centered around the blossoming of the cherry tree. Typically, for only one week of the year the trees are in full bloom and scattered across Japan. Onomichi, the home of Yamamoto, is particularly famous for their cherry trees. At the peak of a bluff that overlooks Onomichi is Senko-ji temple which is surrounded by a park filled with them. Luckily, the attendees arrived at just the right time to see part of the peak blossom.
Yamamoto is extremely proud of our North American distribution partners and thankful that so many customers see value in our brand. We look forward to a blossoming future throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

G.A. Braun, Inc. announces the addition of Matthew Dodge as Braun's regional sales manager. Matt studied Business Administration and Management at the University of St. Thomas, MN and recently held the position of Midwest Area Manager for Biesse America. Matt’s area of coverage will be Braun's west coast territory including Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.

Girbau North America (GNA) recently welcomed Barb Kramer (left) as national accounts coordinator and Paige Paulick (right) as inside sales associate. As national accounts coordinator, Kramer handles multiple duties in support of national accounts sales and customer relations. Paulick is responsible for managing inside sales and lead-qualification processes, as well as juggling customer relations, product pricing and reporting duties.

Alan Gordon, a member of ALM for more than 40 years, recently passed away at his home in Jacksonville, FL.
Alan served the textile care industry for 60 years, fulfilling roles at Ecolab, Gurtler, and Diamond Chemical Company. He is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Amy Cromwell, son Ivan Gordon, and grandchildren who he loved dearly.
