Those traveling to Canada should be aware that proof of vaccination will be required for public transit starting at the end of this month. This includes all commercial air travelers, passengers on interprovincial trains, and passengers on large marine vessels with overnight accommodations, such as cruise ships.

This announcement was made back in August and will take effect at the end of October.

“We know vaccinations are the best way to help protect our fellow Canadians from COVID-19 variants of concern. We are encouraged by the many federal employees who have already been vaccinated and hope that vaccination rates will continue to climb as the Government of Canada moves ahead on its vaccination strategy,” said the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, president of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada and minister of Intergovernmental Affairs

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a recent press conference, ”If you haven’t gotten your shots yet but want to travel this winter, let’s be clear. There will only be a few extremely narrow exceptions like a valid medical condition. For the vast vast majority of people, the rules are very simple to travel: You’ve got to be vaccinated.”
