Industry News

With cases of the Coronavirus outbreak from China now being diagnosed in the United States, many laundry workers may feel anxious and uncertain about what precautions they need to take.

For the laundry industry, there are no recommended changes in normal laundry processing of textiles from the CDC, as the current textile processing standard of appropriate time, temperature and chemical should kill the virus.

The laundry industry has long sought a benchmarking tool that allowed for "apples-to-apples" comparisons.

LaundryMarks™ allows comparison by type of laundry, level of automation and location, through:

  • Intuitive software
  • Clear & concise definitions
  • Filtering capabilities

The LaundryMarks™ platform helps participating laundries know where they stand when compared to others with plant-specific data, because no two laundries are identical, even in the same company. The questions collected in the survey address core metrics for the laundries, and include definitions to clarify what data is to be included or excluded. This enables reports to be generated that provide clear direction for decision making.

Because a plant’s data collection and reporting typically involves multiple personnel, ALM has simplified the process by providing a downloadable document so appropriate departments may collect data. The data can later be entered into the online platform when convenient, and the information saves as you go, meaning data entry may be accomplished as time allows.

"As an industry, we’ve long sought the ability to access rich, current, operational metrics, and now it’s up to us to us to enter data for our plants," said Judy Reino, ALM Board president and CEO of Reino Linen Service. "The LaundryMarks™ platform will make us better decision makers, and the first decision is to get our data in the system — I have, what are you waiting for?"
