You know how in Batman Begins, the Scarecrow dumps a bunch of chemicals into Gotham's water supply to control everyone and bring about chaos? Can we all agree that's a bad thing? But unfortunately, Batman isn't real ... at least we don't think so ... but the fact that technology has infiltrated all aspects of textile care services leaves our industry open to troublemakers.

Your equipment, linen management, maintenance and possibly even your chemical dispensers are now computerized. What is the likelihood they could be targeted by cyber-criminals? What should your technology security plans cover specifically for these specialized programs and what is the plan for recovering from an attack? What resources are available from the vendors of the programs?

Learn how to protect yourself and your business by registering today for our next webinar, Minimizing Cyber Risks, with Joe Danaher from Integrity IT. Joe will address these issues from two angles, both management and staff. Keep in mind, you are allowed an unlimited number of participants at your location for the same low price!

ALM webinar registrations start at $49.95.
Participants will earn 1 laundry/linen contact hour for this session.

The expectation to achieve a targeted performance level is nothing new to a healthcare laundry processor. But when the expected level is an unknown value, it is impossible to meet those expectations. This is exactly what U.S. healthcare laundries face when U.S. guidelines direct them to produce hygienically clean linen without providing a quantifiable value or method of measure. The Association for Linen Management (ALM) is working to change that.

Janice Carter Larson, CLLM, 40-year veteran of the healthcare industry and is a pioneer in hospital-based linen cost management consulting, as well as a former ALM Board member, retired on May 1.

“Janice has been a unique and tremendous asset not only to Encompass all these years, but also to the entire industry,” said John Wood, CEO of Encompass Group. “Her pioneering efforts in working directly with the hospital linen teams to review how each piece of linen is used in every unit, measuring and consistently improving processes, has been copied by others as the foundation of linen cost management. Not only will Encompass miss her expertise, but the entire industry will.”
