NKY Construction Cools as Remodeling Heats Up

The housing construction industry in Northern Kentucky cooled in 2016 as residential remodeling and commercial building heated up dramatically. "We are seeing the bright shoots of growth in Northern Kentucky, primarily in commercial activity and residential remodeling but we haven’t seen much of a rebound in new single-family housing," said Brian Miller, executive vice president of the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky. $10M Fix Needed for East End Hillside

Cincinnati will build a wall above Riverside Drive in the East End after geological testing showed the hillside above the road was rapidly slipping – a threat to underground sewer and water lines that service Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. The estimated cost of the 1,200-foot wall, which would run from Hazen Street to Vance Street: Between $5 million to $10 million, to be paid by sewer and water users. (Cincinnati Enquirer)
