In a development that could shift the medical and education landscape in Greater Cincinnati, St. Elizabeth Healthcare and the University of Kentucky announced Monday they will open a regional medical school in 2019 at Northern Kentucky University. The four-year medical education program will work in collaboration with the Health Innovation Center at NKU, but President Geoff Mearns said the new program won’t be housed in the center. NKU is identifying an existing location on campus that will be renovated and hopefully ready to open by summer or fall 2019, Mearns said. He anticipates the cost of the renovations will be absorbed by UK. (Cincinnati Enquirer)

Allied Construction Industries and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration finalized renewal of their Strategic Partnership, first signed in 2000, now with an expanded outreach to ACI member companies outside of Cincinnati. Information on the Partnership can be found in OSHA's News Brief. A formal announcement and signing opportunity will be held at ACI on Thursday, March 30 to provide interested members the opportunity to join as participants.

In the next step toward building its long-envisioned patient care tower, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center has asked the city to rezone more than six acres of residential Avondale to make way in the short term for a new parking garage and in the long term for the addition that would increase the hospital’s total number of beds to more than 700. (Cincinnati Enquirer)
