State & National News
Architects are always grateful to the elected officials who look out for our interests. Over the rest of the year we will be letting you know when those champions of ours are holding campaign fundraising events (from both sides of the aisle), and we encourage you to attend and support their efforts to stay in office. The AIA Georgia PAC makes contributions to many of these leaders, but it's not enough – please do what you can, especially if they are in your district.

AIA Georgia tracked and became involved in a large number of legislative bills in the last Session of the Georgia General Assembly Session. Many passed – including the Historic Building Tax Credit and Public-Private Partnership bills – and are now laws. The Georgia legislative cycle, though, works in two year increments. That means that many bills that were active in 2015 will also be "live" at the beginning of the 2016 Session (which will begin in January). Click on Learn More to read about the legislation that will be returning to our world again in a few months, and which AIA Georgia will once again be keeping an eye on for our membership.

Recently there have been some questions as to whether the State Board accepts AIA transcripts. The Professional Licensing Board still accepts official AIA transcripts; however, if a licensee is sending the transcripts to satisfy a continuing education audit, he or she must also submit the audit reporting form. AIA Georgia and AIA Atlanta will post the form to our websites.
