With all geographic regions and building project sectors showing positive conditions, there continues to be a heightened level of demand for design services signaled in the latest Architecture Billings Index (ABI). The American Institute of Architects (AIA) reported the September ABI score was 55.2, up from a mark of 53.0 in August. This score reflects an increase in design activity (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings). The new projects inquiry index was 64.8, following a mark of 62.6 the previous month.

All of these groups have realized the pressing need to create an expanded archive of significant architecture and other design documents and objects in order to record the culture and history of architecture and related fields in Georgia.

The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Board of Directors has voted to approve significant changes that will streamline and overhaul the Intern Development Program (IDP), which most states require to satisfy experience requirements for initial licensure as an architect. The changes will only be applicable where adoption has occurred by individual jurisdictional licensing boards.

Review the new ARE Guidelines and ARE Exam Guides. Effective October 2014, new ARE Guidelines and the Exam Guides for all seven divisions of ARE 4.0 are now available. The new ARE documents supersede all previous editions of the ARE 4.0 Exam Guides. Please check the NCARB website regularly for future updates to these documents, along with the most current information regarding the ARE.
