AIA Georgia is committed to creating and expanding the knowledge of Georgia architects. In support of this commitment, AIA Georgia will be offering a one-day educational conference on Friday, Aug. 22, at the Emory Conference Center Hotel. Billings at U.S. architecture firms exhibited strong gains in June. The AIA's Architecture Billings Index (ABI) reading was 53.3 for the month, coming on the heels of healthy reading of 52.6 in May. (Scores above 50 indicate billings growth, scores below 50 indicate billings decline.) This upturn suggests that design activity may be entering a stronger phase after weak quarters at the end of last year and the beginning of this one.

The Young Architects Forum (YAF) is a committee of the AIA and is organized to address issues of particular importance to recently licensed architects (within ten years or less after licensure). The 2014 focus of the YAF is career advancement. Volunteering with AIA National can provide opportunities to demonstrate leadership skills, network with your peers and influence the profession as a whole through advocacy.

Join us to tour the Atlanta BeltLine's Eastside trail with knowledgeable guides from the BeltLine and Trees Atlanta. First conceived as a 1999 master's thesis by Georgia Tech student Ryan Gravel, the Atlanta BeltLine has evolved into a robust vision of integrated transportation, land use, green space and sustainable growth. When complete, the 22-mile BeltLine will encircle the city, connecting 45 in-town neighborhoods. It will also be home to an arboretum consisting of several thousand trees planted by Trees Atlanta.
