This year Atlanta will host the 2012 South Atlantic Region Conference, September 19-22, at the Loews Hotel. We have an exciting program lined up featuring well-known speakers from the AIA Community including David Zach, Jim Cramer, Hon. AIA, and David Miller FAIA. Learn More... All entries, built or un-built, must be commissioned building projects designed by licensed architect of the Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina chapter of the AIA. The projects may be located anywhere in the United States or abroad. Built projects must have been completed within the past 10 years. Un-built projects must be fully commissioned with a scheduled construction start date. Projects that have previously received a SAR Design Award are not eligible for entry in the current awards program. All projects will be judged on the basis of their architectural excellence. The jury will determine the final number of awards and whether to confer honor or merit awards.

A Design Competition Open to IDP Candidates, "A Building for Affordable Housing." The competition is to prepare the schematic design of an affordable multifamily project. It is also a great opportunity for IDP candidates to earn over 300 CORE NCARB hours.
Learn More... Architecture at Zero 2012 is a zero net energy design competition open to students and professionals worldwide. The design challenge is a zero net energy (ZNE) student housing or administrative office building design for the University of California Merced in Merced, California. As part of the Architecture at Zero 2012 challenge, entrants will also be asked to create a diagrammatic district energy plan for the Bellevue Gateway development. The buildings will be part of the Bellevue Gateway, a new mixed-use development located on the campus that will act as both the primary entrance to the university and as a bustling center of activity with sports facilities, dining, residential spaces, administration, and parking.
