AIA Georgia representatives attended this year's Wild Hog Supper, an annual tradition as legislators and lobbyists return to Atlanta to launch the session. Governor Deal took time to speak with our Executive Director. This week Deal announced creation of the Go Build Georgia program, educating Georgians about highly skilled trades in industrial and commercial construction.

AIA Georgia Grassroots Day marks your opportunity to meet legislators and express your ideas regarding building the economy and growing the future of your profession. This year, we're enhancing the opportunities for Continuing Education, Networking and Knowledge. Our annual collaboration with ACEC/GA and AGC now includes a breakfast session at the Georgia Freight Depot with Mike Beatty, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, followed by a tour of the capitol and legislative visits. Then we'll have lunch back at the Depot with legislators and a program related to issues affecting the A/E/C industries. Invited lunchtime speakers are Doug Galloway with the Georgia Transportation Alliance and Governor Nathan Deal. More legislative visits will round out a great day.

The American Institute of Architects Central Oklahoma Chapter announced the release of the Request for Proposals for the Iconic Stage Center building located in downtown Oklahoma City. The American Institute of Architects, Central Oklahoma Chapter, with the assistance of the Oklahoma District Council of the Urban Land Institute, along with members of the community, have joined together to reach out to potential developers in an effort to save the architecturally significant building. The group is working on behalf of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, the current owner of the building.

AIA Georgia Career Center
The Director of Advocacy provides staff direction for Georgia's architects in legislative and regulatory arenas. In coordination with the Executive Director, Board Advocacy Team Leader, PAC Chair and other volunteer leaders, the Director mobilizes the Association's membership, builds coalitions with related organizations and strategically targets specific issues. In this manner, the Director aims to achieve the profession's goals to protect and improve the business conditions for architects and maintain the profession's leadership in protecting the health and safety of the public. The Director reports to the Executive Director. Applicants may send letter of inquiry, outlining salary requirements, to advocacy@aiaga.org. Only applicants providing salary requirements will receive a response.
