They say that you don’t know what you don’t know. After my first State Government Network (SGN) annual meeting in St. Louis last week, I can certainly confirm that sentiment. I have spent the past 12 years contributing to Georgia’s grassroots legislative efforts, and I think there is a strong tendency for most members to believe that legislative efforts on the state level are unique to each state. What became immediately clear during the meeting’s orientation was that very little of our state-level legislative efforts are solitary and their consequences are quickly felt within other states.
 
 
   
AIA Atlanta’s annual Residential Design Awards (RDA) return for a fourth year, honoring excellence in work built by AIA members and architects registered in Georgia (this competition is statewide). Registration and submissions are open June 22 through October 27. On November 16, we will announce the winners during Build Something Great at Midtown’s Summerour Studio.
