AIA Georgia members from across the state are invited to attend on February 28, 2017. The 2017 Georgia General Assembly Session promises to be very interesting for architects. New legislation has been filed regarding SCAD and licensing and another for structural engineers that affects architects in the State. There will be plenty to report on and 1.5 LU credit to be had!

Please join us for an informal discussion of the Georgia Energy Code on February 16th at 4pm during which Ryan Taylor will present an overview of the ongoing process for amending and adopting Georgia’s next energy code. This will not be a structured continuing education program so Ryan can solicit comments from AIA GA members to take to the next meeting of the Georgia Energy Code Task Force on the following Thursday. It will be helpful for those attending to review the 2015 IECC, particularly Chapter 4 in the commercial section of the code, in advance to bring comments and questions to the discussion.

In 2016, we saw the political world turned upside down. With the election of President – Elect Donald Trump, history was made. Most pundits and political observers were taken by surprise. With a Republican Congress and White House, we are watching closely to determine what this could mean for public policy in Georgia. With 2016 being an election year, there were a number of issues that were not taken up, as they did not play well in election-year politics. Look up the bills we are watching and/or sponsoring. Give us your input!
