Highlights from the 2015 Sustainable Design Leaders Summit

Description:

From July 29 to 31 2015, directors of sustainability from 52 architectural firms met in Boston, MA. Among the attendees, there was a good balance of external (people seeking to influence the industry) versus internal (people seeking to improve processes within their firms). This year’s summit involved three distinct activities:

1.     Two pre-summit workshops (transforming the firm’s capabilities | Negotiation & Change Management)

2.     Discussion of topics of interest (strategic planning for sustainability, research, product transparency, etc.)

3.     Post-summit tour of the Harvard Art Museum and Harvard’s Sherman Fairchild Laboratory Renovation

 

Learning objectives:

 

·         Understand the role of the sustainable design leader within a practice

·         Understand the sustainable design topics of high interest to architectural practices nationwide

·         Identify common challenges to sustainable design in architecture practices nationwide

·         Identify tools and best practices to address challenges to sustainable design in an architectural practice
