Catalysts in Action: Carrying the Spark of Resilience Forward

My cup is full — truly full — after our incredible 2025 AHVAP Annual Conference. This year’s theme, “Catalysts for A Resilient Future,” could not have been more fitting.  A heartfelt thank you to Dr Hudson Garrett, Team AHVAP, all our attendees, speakers, poster presenters, industry partners, and all those who made this event a success.  Over the course of the event, I witnessed firsthand the passion, intelligence, and collaboration that define our membership. The energy was electric. The conversations were rich. And the sense of shared purpose was palpable in every corner of the conference space.

I was so proud to see the incredible work being presented — the data-driven projects, the collaborative initiatives, and the stories of perseverance and innovation. The knowledge shared this year was not only impressive; it was inspiring. It reminded me that the future of value analysis is about leadership, influence, and impact. It’s about how we, as professionals, continue to elevate conversation and advocate for what’s best for patients, clinicians, and the health systems we serve.

From the moment I stepped into the exhibit hall, there was a buzz — the kind of excitement that only comes when people who are deeply committed to their work gather to share ideas, innovations, and solutions. The Expo wasn’t just a showcase of products or tools; it was a living, breathing example of how far value analysis has come and where it’s heading. Every booth, every presentation, and every conversation reinforced one simple truth: our members are the driving force behind the transformation of healthcare.

But as I sit here reflecting, I keep coming back to one important thought: we can’t let this momentum fade. Conferences have a way of recharging us — they remind us why we do what we do. Yet, once we return to our daily routines, it’s easy to get caught up in the noise, the deadlines, and the competing priorities. That’s why it’s so important that we hold onto that sense of excitement, connection, and possibility that we felt together in that room.

Now is the time to harness that energy — to keep the fire burning. Let’s use what we learned, who we met, and how we felt as fuel to keep driving forward the Value Analysis Revolution. Because make no mistake — that’s exactly what we’re leading. A revolution in how decisions are made, how data is used, and how patient-centered value is defined and delivered.  Whether you’re just beginning your journey in value analysis or have been part of this field for years, you are a catalyst. Together, we are building not just resilient systems, but resilient leaders — ones who adapt, innovate, and rise to meet the changing demands of healthcare.

So, as we close this chapter on another successful conference, I encourage you to carry that spark with you — share it with your teams, your organizations, and your peers. Let’s keep the conversation going, the ideas flowing, and the collaboration thriving. Because the work we do doesn’t end when the conference does — it begins anew, each and every day, with each of us as catalysts for change.  And once I catch up on a little sleep… I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the year ahead.

Sincerely,

Anne Marie Orlando, MBA, RN, RCIS, CVAHP™, FACHDM, PNAP, FAHVAP
