The Association of Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals (AHVAP) Certification Center is pleased to announce that registration for our innovative new micro-credential program: Healthcare Value Analysis AI Specialist Micro-Credential November Cohort is OPEN. This micro-credential introduces healthcare value analysis professionals to the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare value analysis processes. It covers core AI concepts, explores current use cases, and empowers participants to apply AI tools in real-world decision-making scenarios. Participants will complete a guided course project, reinforcing their learning through hands-on experience with AI-supported value analysis tools and techniques. 

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define key AI concepts and distinguish between AI, machine learning, and automation.
  • Explain the relevance and value of AI in healthcare value analysis.
  • Evaluate AI use cases that support product selection, literature review, cost analysis, and implementation monitoring.
  • Apply AI tools to streamline a step in the value analysis process.
  • Analyze ethical considerations and risks when using AI in clinical and operational decision-making.
  • Design a mini-project demonstrating the use of AI in a value analysis workflow.

Our training series will consist of two live, interactive sessions, each focusing on a different aspect of the application of artificial intelligence to healthcare value analysis. Topics will include:

Session 1 – Foundations & Exploration

Module 1: What is AI? Why Now in Value Analysis?

  • Definitions and Core Concepts
  • AI vs Automation vs Advanced Analytics
  • AI Trends in Healthcare
  • Relevance to Value Analysis and Supply Chain

Module 2: AI in Action – Value Analysis Use Cases

  • AI-assisted Literature Reviews
  • Predictive Modeling for Cost/Utilization
  • AI-driven Decision Support Tools
  • Introduction to the Veritas AI Value Analysis System (optional example)

Activities:

  • Interactive Polling & Small Group Breakouts
  • Guided Demo/Case Example Walkthroughs
  • Mini-Assessment: "Where Could AI Help My Process?"

Session 2 – Ethics, Toolkits, and Project Work

Module 3: Ethical Considerations & Human Oversight

  • Bias, Transparency, and Explainability
  • AI as a Decision Support Tool (not a replacement)
  • Governance and Organizational Policy Recommendations

Module 4: Getting Started – Tools, Prompts, and Templates

  • Practical Tools: GPTs, Literature Summarizers, AI Assistants
  • Prompt Engineering Basics for Value Analysis
  • Templates for AI-assisted Reviews and Cost Justifications

Course Project Introduction:

  • Choose a value analysis task (e.g., product request, literature summary, justification report)
  • Apply at least one AI tool
  • Present a short written or visual summary

Program Accreditation/Micro-Certification: 

Upon successful completion of the entire program, attendees will receive 6.0 hours of Continuing Education towards CVAHPTM recertification or nursing licenses/certifications. Upon completion of the certification test, you will be issued a digital badge highlighting your new micro-certification through your digital badging partner-Credly.

The training series will take place over two live sessions, with sessions held on a regular schedule. We will provide all the necessary materials and resources for you to participate fully in the training. Each participant will also complete a final project using the artificial intelligence framework and apply it to a unique scenario from their facility or practice environment.
