There is still time to attend our in-person AHVAP Certification Center Medical Products Instructions for Use Specialist Micro-Credential (MPIUS) being hosted on April 18, 2025, in Louisville, KY. Mastering Instructions for Use (IFU) for Medical Products is a focused micro-credential designed to help healthcare value analysis professionals, infection preventionists, biomedical engineers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals effectively interpret and implement manufacturer guidelines/instructions for use and apply them in the clinical context for infection prevention and control. Participants will learn how to evaluate IFUs critically to ensure safe, evidence-based usage of medical products throughout the continuum of care. This will include the evaluation of both products regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Through practical case studies and real-world applications, attendees will gain insights into preventing errors, reducing healthcare-associated infections, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and clinical standards. This program emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, empowering professionals to enhance patient safety and improve clinical outcomes by mastering the nuances of product-specific IFUs.

Those who successfully complete the entire program will receive 6.0 hours of continuing education for the CVAHP designation. 6.0 hours of continuing education credit are also available for nursing professionals and those holding CBIC infection control designations.
