Message from AVHAP Treasurer

As we embark on 2024 at AHVAP, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself as the new Treasurer and board member. I am passionate about Value Analysis and see this opportunity as an honor.

I have been a clinician for 40 years with a background in critical care, perioperative services, and group purchasing, working at Premier for the last 14 years. I oversee a team with all the clinical oversight for Nursing, Surgical, Cardiovascular, Value Analysis, Supply Disruption, Breakthrough Technology, and cross-reference. These teams are instrumental in conducting the value analysis process in their sourcing work and are all members of AHVAP.

Value analysis is at the forefront of healthcare, and when working with industry partners, the need to review cost, quality, and outcomes as a best practice becomes very apparent. I also chair the AHVAP Education and Clinical Practice Committee, which has produced several position statements in a few short months, including Defining Healthcare Value Analysis as a Specialty and Competencies and Ideal Qualifications of a Healthcare Value Analysis Professional. The work of this committee shows the power of bringing multi-discipline individuals together for a common goal with a VA-driven outcome.

On a personal note, I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 42 years, and we have three children and eight grandchildren. My family is my most prized possession, and we are very blessed to have them all living very close. I have wanted to be a nurse since I was very young, and the joy I have experienced in this profession has never wavered.

Sincerely,

Sharon Roberts, BSN, RN, CVAHP™
Treasurer, Board of Directors
