Dear ASHHRA Colleagues, The fall season has arrived, and the months are flying by. When the Labor Day holiday comes, it signals the start of the holiday season. The ASHHRA Board hosted their inaugural meeting under MCI USA last month. It was wonderful to see everyone virtually, but I hope to meet everyone in person soon. The delta variant has thrown a curve ball at us from a planning perspective, but we look forward to showing you what we have in store for 2022.

Chief Healthcare ExecutiveFindings of a new report highlight 40% of hospitals accelerated hiring to meet the increased demand in medical services following COVID-19 lockdowns. Aon plc’s 16th annual Benefits Survey of Hospitals revealed 36% of hospitals surveyed plan for normal hiring and 24% are being cautious by delaying or issuing a hiring freeze. The survey findings strongly differentiate from 2020 when hospitals took measures to cut costs during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.

American Hospital Association At the urging of the AHA, the State Department said that because of the emergence of the COVID-19 delta variant and continued demand for health care professionals, U.S. embassies and consulates were instructed that they may prioritize “as emergencies on a case-by-case basis the immigrant visa cases of certain health care professionals who will work at a facility engaged in pandemic response.”
