A goodly morning to everyone as we enter the third quarter of 2020, the Year of COVID-19. As I write this, my home state of South Carolina is setting records every day for increases in COVID-19 cases. We have “good” company in Florida, Texas, Arizona, California and other states. Thankfully, health care workers lead the way on wearing masks and will continue to do so. Thank you for masking up!

The health care sector added 358,000 jobs throughout the last two weeks of May and the first two weeks of June, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics monthly jobs report. Similar to last month's report, dentists and physician's offices saw notable gains: 190,000 and 80,000 jobs added, respectively.​ Hospitals added about 7,000 jobs, the first gain since March.

American Hospital Association


Hospitals face a triple threat with financial losses due to COVID-19, AHA President and CEO said in a recent CNBC interview. A new AHA report finds that the financial strain of COVID-19 on hospitals and health systems will continue through at least the end of the year, with total losses expected to be at least $323 billion in 2020.
