Government Executive
The U.S. Labor Secretary has announced the opening of a new office aimed at complementing labor law enforcement with outreach to help employers and workers comply with regulations. The education effort, which will be coordinated by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy, will work with enforcement authorities to "refine their metrics to ensure the efficacy of the department’s compliance assistance activities."

WorkforceThe recent European introduction of GDPR has brought privacy to the forefront, and even domestic data protection expectations have ratcheted up. GDPR mandates disclosures, enhanced consents, the right to access and correct information held, and the right to be forgotten. Some U.S. laws do the same, including with respect to HR data, so those responsible for HR data need to be aware and responsive.
