As the pandemic forces millions of workers to hunker down for an indefinite period of time, workplaces have become remote by necessity. This means work-related activities, including learning and development, have also gone remote.

Health Affairs
For centuries, the dominant form of medical care has been based on a one-to-one relationship between a physician and an individual patient. In contrast, with a one-to-many model of care, a health care professional can manage a group of patients using remote monitoring tools and patient-generated data, and identify those requiring in-the-moment care. One-to-many care can take multiple forms, but a core concept is management by exception, in which patient data is tracked and reviewed regularly and the provider only intervenes on patients who need attention at any given moment.

A volunteer network in Minnesota matches medical students with health care workers in need of child care, pet-sitting or just help with errands like grocery runs. In short order, the group, known as MN Covidsitters, has drawn together more than 350 volunteers and provided support to a couple of hundred health care workers — a number that grows every day.

Becker's Hospital Review
As COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the U.S., hospitals and health systems across the country are facing shortages of personal protective equipment such as masks, gowns and face shields. This has prompted health care workers to speak publicly about a lack of protections, resulting in disciplinary action at some organizations.

Fierce Healthcare
There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic is taking an emotional and physical toll on doctors and other health care workers. And for many, as the number of patients and the number of deaths increase nationwide, it’s only going to get worse.
