ASHHRA eNews Pulse: January 2018

Message from the President
Dear ASHHRA Colleagues,

I’m honored and looking forward to serving as your president for 2018!

It is hard to believe that 2017 is over and 2018 is already upon us. Health care saw tremendous change in 2017 and I am sure 2018 will be no different. However, I know each and every one of you is up to the challenge to make a difference. As 2018 begins, I have thought about how much my ASHHRA relationships have impacted me over the years. I have met colleagues from all over the country and learned so much from each one. It is a great feeling knowing you can pick up a phone or send an email for any support you may need. For example, I received a very nice email from a colleague I met through ASHHRA, reminding me they were there for any support or advice as I went through the next year as ASHHRA’s president. It’s through my ASHHRA experiences that relationships like this have been built.

I have also enjoyed working with others to help them attain their CHHR, all while expanding their knowledge of ASHHRA. The CHHR certification is a great opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise in the health care field of human resources. I hope you will consider taking this certification exam in 2018! I also would be remiss if I did not mention the great team of HR professionals at Mountain States Health Alliance, where I am the Vice President of Human Resources. It’s a great team like this that really allows me the time to give back to our profession. Again, I’m looking forward to a great 2018, and especially the conference in Pittsburgh, September 15-18.

Happy new year!
