Dear ASHHRA Colleagues,

As usual, the year seems to be speeding by and we are in February already.

January marked our first board meeting of the year. We met at the conference site in Seattle, Washington, and I believe that our host city has a lot in store for you — fine dining, entertainment and wineries, not to mention a great venue for our conference. Our conference committee is presently working on an educational line-up for your professional growth. In addition to previewing the conference site, the board worked on a review of our strategic initiatives and the goals for this year.  We reviewed a number of successes from last year which included an increase in the number of CHHR members, an increase in member attraction to the organization and quality programs, just to name a few. As we move forward this year, we will be focusing on sustaining and growing the number of CHHR recipients, multigenerational needs of the membership and increasing the opportunities for networking, among other efforts.

Areas of focus for our strategic review included:
Marketplace Benefits – quality offerings to our ASHHRA community and career resources
Meetings and Networking – analyzing our conference, online member community, regional meetings, chapter involvement
Education and Publications – reviewing certification activity, e-library, books and articles, webinars
Advocacy and Outreach – taking advantage of our advocacy events, public outreach, thought leader activities and opportunities.

As your board works to bring to you a strong professional organization, don’t hesitate to provide your ideas, suggestions and improvements so we can continue to be the leader for health care human resources professionals.

Therefore our goal as a professional organization is to:
Be marketplace leaders
Advance even in high competition markets
Identify and fill the gap in the marketplace
Capture any missing opportunities to benefit our members.

As we move ahead with this important work, we will continue to grow our organization to be the premier professional association and resource for health care human resources professionals.
