A few months ago, I asked you each to take a minute and think back to early January. I asked what you experienced when you welcomed 2023. Did you feel renewed and energized? Cautiously optimistic? Exhausted? Or maybe a mixture of all of the above? Now that we are halfway through the year, I wanted to do another check in.

A new survey from Premier has found that 40% of healthcare workers have experienced at least one incident of workplace violence within the past two years, with the violence occurring most frequently among nursing staff at the hands of men between 35 and 65.

HealthPartners, based in Bloomington, Minn., has been simplifying its electronic health records system as part of its efforts to retain employees. By simplifying its EHR system, the organization hopes that its physicians are not overburdened with alerts and messages.

In U.S. nonprofit hospitals this spring, average hourly earnings wage growth decelerated compared to 2022, while quits and job openings remained high, according to a report by Fitch Ratings. 
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), launched the new Pediatric Specialty Loan Repayment Program, a $15 million investment to recruit and retain clinicians who provide health care to children and adolescents.

Growth in median total compensation for primary care physicians doubled last year, from pay growth of 2.13% in 2021 to 4.41% in 2022. However, the growth failed to overtake inflation, which increased 7% in 2021 and 6.5% in 2022, according to a survey by the Medical Group Management Association.
