Welcome to the premiere issue of the ASHHRA Conference Show Daily eNewsletter, dedicated to bringing you all the daily happenings of the ASHHRA 48th Annual Conference and Exposition. Over the next few days, stay tuned for conference highlights, learning session summaries, keynote speaker reviews, the exposition, and all the exciting activities occurring during the show.

In this issue, we'll introduce our speakers, tell you about the fun things to do in Denver, and outline upcoming conference events.

In anticipation of the conference, ASHHRA encourages you to connect with your fellow colleagues and get reacquainted. You may also want to connect on the learning sessions you’ve selected. In an effort to provide a "green" meeting environment, we appreciate your cooperation by printing your learning session presentations in advance. Print copies of presentation materials will not be available onsite.

MetLife Presents: Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum Party!
Party starts at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 23

Join MetLife on Sunday, September 23rd for an exciting event, and walk among a rare and stunning assembly of historical aircraft. The festivities offer plenty of delicious food, cocktails and an amazing band that will entice you to the dance floor. You'll be privy to aeronomic Americana embodied in Century-Series fighters, a B-18A Bolo, an RF-84-K Thunderflash Parasite, and so much more. While enjoying the party, be sure to have your photo taken with MetLife's own Flying Ace, Snoopy and special guest, Charlie Brown!

This entertaining evening, which includes round trip transportation from the Convention Center, sells out every year. Be sure to get your tickets early as you won't want to miss the fun!

  • 6:30 p.m. Begin transportation to the Museum from Convention Center
    (transportation will continue until all guests have been transported to the Museum)
  • 7:00 - 10:30 p.m. Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum Party!

The ASHHRA annual conference has been approved for 18.0 general recertification credit hours, 15.0 strategic business management recertification credit hours, and 1.5 California specific recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute.

ASHHRA Annual Conference Learning Sessions
ASHHRA is authorized to award 10.5 hours of pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit (non-ACHE) for this program toward advancement or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in this program wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit should indicate their attendance when submitting application to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification. Denver the "Mile High City"
Fall in love with the Mile High City on this adventure that includes seeing Lower Downtown (LoDo) and Larimer Square. Pass by Mile High Stadium, the United States Mint, and Coors Field. Tour the elegant Brown Palace Hotel and the State Capitol Building. Learn about hand crafting hard candy while visiting Hammond’s Candies plus take home some sweets from the candy store. Travel through magnificent city parks and see Victorian neighborhoods including the area where the "Unsinkable" Molly Brown once lived. (Candy factory tour not available on Sunday)

Rocky Mountain National Park (Memorial Day through mid-October)
Cross-over the Continental Divide twice during this adventure through one of America’s most treasured parks. Visit the mountain village of Estes Park and explore the multitude of souvenir shops. Walk to a waterfall or around an alpine lake. Witness beautiful meadows and discover fragile alpine tundra. See incredible mountain views as you travel 11 miles (17.6km) above timberline while reaching an elevation of 12,183 feet (3,715m) on Trail Ridge Road. Enjoy a picnic lunch while surrounded by pristine mountain scenery. Observe a variety of wildlife including herds of grazing elk and yellow-bellied marmots. (Park entrance fee and picnic lunch included)

Departs: Downtown Denver daily 8:15 a.m.

#7 Evergreen, Squaw Pass, and Echo Lake
Drive into the mountains via Bear Creek Canyon and its multitude of Denver Mountain Parks. Browse the shops of the quaint town of Evergreen. Witness stands of Golden Aspen and beautiful mountain vistas while climbing over Squaw Pass to Echo Lake. At Echo Lake, take a walk, browse the shop, and enjoy the mountain scenery. Travel through historic Genesee Mountain Park while viewing herds of Buffalo and Elk!
Duration: 4 1/2 hours
Cost: $50
Departs: Downtown Denver daily 8:15 a.m. or 12:45 p.m.
