Conference Highlights

Each year ASHHRA strives to ensure that the annual conference culminates a venue where you, as health care HR professionals, can network, discover, and expand your knowledge. This year’s theme, Leading People Through Change, has given us the opportunity to view the conference differently and challenge our thinking during this turbulent time as to what is yet to come.

We can promise you that this conference will help to enhance your knowledge in physician integration, labor relations, health care reform, employee engagement, wellness initiatives, and the future of the workforce just to name a few. Take the time to really make this conference event a meaningful one, building on your knowledge to adapt to this ever-changing field.

I would be remiss if I neglected to mention our amazing annual conference and host committees, volunteers, board, and staff, who, with their generous support, have made the conference possible. We are grateful for their time, abilities, and enthusiasm. All have worked tirelessly to ensure you have an extraordinary conference experience.

So please take it all in. This is your time to focus on your own education, your career, and the future of health care.

Stephanie H. Drake, MBA

ASHHRA Executive Director

It's going to be a busy second day, and we have a lot of great things in store to help you lead people through change.

Yesterday’s pre-conference got off to a running start. Pre-conference attendees had the opportunity to learn and network in sessions on hiring, finance, and strategic health care reform. Saturday afternoon concluded with the Legislative and Labor Panel where attendees explored legislative, legal, and labor trends affecting health care.

Saturday evening’s Special Recognition Reception, sponsored by AHA Solutions, was well-attended and proved to be a wonderful networking opportunity for both new and seasoned ASHHRA members. ASHHRA acknowledged first-time attendees, those who are new to the profession, new members, and Mentoring Program participants.

Today begins with Regional Breakfasts (7:45-9 a.m.), where attendees can meet their ASHHRA regional consultant, obtain region updates, share ideas and best practices, and network with colleagues from their area. Plus, attendees can celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding chapters as they receive their ASHHRA Chapter Management Awards. The Regional Breakfasts will be held on the third level of the Hyatt Hotel in Mineral Hall. Thank you, Regional Breakfast Sponsors: Skillsurvey, Inc. (Regions 2, 3, 6, and 9), HealthStream (Region 4), BPI Group (Region 5), Kenexa (Region 7), and Towers Watson (Region 8).

Our Opening Ceremony kicks off at 9:15 a.m. and runs until 11 a.m., featuring announcements, presentations, and leadership inspiration from formal NFL Quarterback Tom Flick. This former PAC-10 Conference Player of the Year is a dynamic, highly sought after speaker who’s engaging and energizing. Delivering personal strategies for leadership, teamwork, change, and personal growth, Flick will enable you to return to work inspired and ready to engage your workforce.

At the conclusion of our opening ceremony, spend quality time in the exhibit hall to engage with 200 of the most prominent companies in health care human resources. Speak with exhibitors and learn more about products and services that can help you be more effective and efficient. After you’ve attended learning sessions in the afternoon, join us again in the exhibit hall from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for food, drinks, and networking at the Exhibitor Appreciation Social.

To cap off the busy day, buses will begin boarding at 6:30 p.m. (at the convention center) for the MetLife Social Event at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. Attendees must purchase a ticket for the event.
