Fabio Mundim Pena
Hospital Sírio-Libanês
São Paulo, Brazil

Q. You came a long way to be with us! Why did you travel to another continent to attend the ASHHRA Convention & Exposition?
Fabio: Health care delivery in Brazil is getting a lot of attention right now, and I'm always on the lookout to see what others are doing. I also coordinate an association that gathers hospitals from all over Brazil.

I’m always looking to see what is being done elsewhere in order to give us insight into what we’re doing. Brazil has a similar private health care system, so I want to learn about trends and issues in the United States and what is being done here to address certain issues in order to foster discussion in my hospital as well as in the association.

Q. What’s the one topic you’re hoping to hear more about while you’re here?
Fabio: Ways to foster the capacity of our health care leaders on the frontline – the nurses, doctors, etc. – not only in health care delivery but for people and management considerations as well.
