Career Corner
Very few career paths are straight lines. They often involve pivots, lateral moves and sometimes even jumps to entirely new industries. Transferable skills — the abilities and experience that may not relate directly to a new position, but that will still prove beneficial to your success — are key to landing any new job, particularly if you're looking to alter your career trajectory.

The old adage states that rules are meant to be broken. But while the rule-breaking approach certainly lends itself to disruptive ideas, innovative thinking and challenging the status quo, don’t let the bravado fool you: Leaders do follow rules — just not always the rules taught in Management 101.

Health Care Hiring
While U.S. job creation fell short of economists’ expectations this month, the labor market continues to show healthy growth. The industries that saw the biggest gains were professional and business services and health care. According to the latest BLS employment situation report, released today, the U.S. created 156,000 jobs in September, which was lower than the 176,000 gain predicted, but well within the margin of healthy job growth.

Believe it or not, some of the best health care jobs are outside of hospitals and primary care facilities. (Although there are plenty of jobs there, too). Health care jobs can even be found right where you do your grocery shopping.
