A new UK-based company which aims to address the immediate and long-term skills needs of the global marine energy sector, was launched on 10th July.  Headquartered in Cornwall, south-west England, UTM Consultants Ltd will leverage its extensive network together with its industry experience to source and supply the manpower solutions required to deliver complex ROV, survey, inspection, repair and maintenance projects to the oil and gas, renewable, hydrographic, marine, power and telecommunications sectors.

Identifying new opportunities and understanding regional challenges are set to be key themes at the 2017 Subsea Asia conference and exhibition, as the call for speakers is launched. Bluestream has secured a five-year contract plus two-year extension with ONEgas, the combined business unit of Shell UK and the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM) for the gas production on the Southern North Sea. The contract is a ROV subsea structural inspection services contract and includes in total 69 of ONEgas’s offshore platforms and subsea completions in the Southern North Sea, UK and Dutch sectors. Work started immediately, after signing the contract on 24 May 2017.

Blackmagic Design today announced that its Micro Studio Camera 4K was chosen as part of the new EagleRay 4K underwater camera system, which is used to capture 4K footage up to 1,000 meters deep. Lee Frey, co-founder of Arctic Rays and manned submersible pilot for Alucia Productions, used the Micro Studio Camera 4K to capture footage during Antarctic expeditions for the BBC’s "Blue Planet II" and the NHK’s "Deep Ocean" series.

Talos Energy LLC ("Talos" or the "Company") as operator, together with its joint venture partners Sierra Oil and Gas S. de R.L de C.V. Hydraulic cutting tools specialist, Webtool, is announcing the industry’s first battery-powered, high pressure hydraulic power pack, enabling smaller and inspection class ROVs access to the Webtool range of hydraulic wire rope and softline fibre rope cutters, at Offshore Europe 2017.
