PANAMA CITY BEACH - A piece of local and marine history is decaying and in desperate need of rehabilitation.
The SeaLab I sea floor habitat changed the limits for divers and researchers, leading to saturation diving, staying on the ocean floor for days or weeks at the time. It’s the focus of fundraising by the Man in the Sea Museum on Back Beach Road (U.S. 98), which houses the habitat. A two-year campaign for complete refurbishment begins with the Oyster Bash on Jan. 20.

LAKE CHELAN — Professional diver John Frost distractedly pulled on his dry suit and gear, while whistling a familiar "Wizard of Oz" tune.
Occasionally he’d sing a snippet:
"... If I only had a brain ..."
Considering that he was about to splash into the frigid, 40-degree water of Lake Chelan, you’d have to wonder if he really did need one.
