It was decided to ask for the support of our industry as a whole, given the significance of Dan Wilson's lifelong work. The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is excited about creating a special display with Purisima to supplement existing diving and early offshore oil industry exhibits.

All of us were excited about the possibility of ADCI membership sponsoring this unique display that will honor our industry and a man who dared to "think outside of the box." Additionally, the display will be a significant representation of ADCI and commercial diving for tourists and visitors at the museum.

The bacteria are of particular interest because they may shed light on the mechanism by which rusticles form, and thus on the general "recycling" that such microbes carry out on submerged metal structures.
That, the authors point out, has relevance also to the protection of offshore oil and gas pipelines, and the safe disposal at sea of ships and oil rigs.

NEW PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGY
Underwater Remote-Operated Vehicles, or ROVs, are used extensively in the oil and gas industry, in undersea engineering projects and, more glamorously, for doing things like exploring the wreck of the Titanic. These unmanned submersibles are linked to a surface support ship with a thick, cumbersome tether, which is used to pipe power down to the ROV as well as for communications. At the Future of Electric Vehicles conference, however, a new technology was presented that almost sets the ROVs free – the Spider Optics system.

The second watch Vittorium announced is this piece called the Deep Diver. This is meant to be their truer dive watch – even though it does have some design features that would prevent it from being a true professional diving instrument. However, on that note, Vittorium will offer versions of the Deep Diver with much increased water resistance. This Deep Diver is 200 meters water resistant, and information from Vittorium indicates the Deep Diver will soon be able to dive much deeper.
