Oil prices inch lower on demand concerns as Covid-19 cases rise
Oil prices have declined by 1% due to a surge in new Covid-19 cases in China and the US. This increased worries that fuel demand recovery could stall, despite easing lockdown restrictions across many states.
 
Gas flowing from second North Sea Sillimanite well
Wintershall Noordzee has started gas production from the b2 well on the Sillimanite field in the North Sea, 200 km (124 mi) from Den Helder. The company, a joint venture between Wintershall Dea and Gazprom EP International, started drilling the b2 well in February, soon after the field’s producer had come onstream.
 
Cleaning up Magnox ponds
The entire ponds cleanup program across the 10 UK Magnox reactor sites is expected to cost around £300 million.

Empyrean given more time for offshore China well
CNOOC has granted Empyrean Energy a 12-month extension to the first phase of exploration on block 29/11. The first well must now be drilled by June 12, 2021, although Empyrean will look to start operations sooner, if possible. It applied for the extension due to restrictions arising from the spread of COVID-19.

Aker solutions develops faster offshore well workover system
Norwegian engineering company Aker Solutions has said it has developed a modified workover system that enables faster and more cost-effective planned interventions. The concept will first be applied on Equinor’s Visund field in the North Sea, offshore Norway.
