ADCI extends its condolences to the friends and family of Lawrence (Larry) Goldberg, 68, who died unexpectedly at his Merritt Island, Florida home. He was a commercial diver, inspector, scientist, and adventurer, recognized as one of the "fathers" of Underwater Nondestructive Testing. Larry is survived by his wife, Helen, and daughter, Mika; his two brothers, Mark and Richard; and his beloved service dog, KO.
The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is holding its North America Regional meeting in Houston on Thursday October 25. This will provide an opportunity for IMCA members and guests to obtain an update on the Association’s activities; take part in a workshop that will contribute to IMCA’s work in the region; and receive presentations on offshore wind in North America and the ongoing work with the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI).
Remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) operator ROVOP announced it has purchase of the entire fleet of 28 ROV systems from competitor M2 Subsea.

Nominees do not have to be commercial divers, but can be any individual who has been influential and who has made a significant and recognizable life-long contribution to the commercial diving community.

This year the ADCI will award 2 Scholarships at $4,000.00 each.

This ADCI Scholarship is open to members of the community of all ADCI voting member companies who are current and in good standing with ADCI, with the exception of officers and/or directors of the ADCI Board of Directors or their immediate families. This award is available for any institution of higher learning after high school including universities, colleges, junior colleges, vocational training schools and trade schools. 

Scholarship recipients will be honored at the Awards Dinner at Underwater Intervention 2019.

Plans have been announced to bring marine manufacturing back to the River Clyde in a move estimated to create nearly 1000 jobs. Malin Group will create a hub at Old Kilpatrick, in West Dunbartonshire, on a derelict 47-acre site which was formerly the Carless oil storage facility. Malin Group managing director John MacSween believes the hub will be a "magnet" for marine engineering and technology organisations and "a centre of excellence" for the sector.
With the oil price hovering around $80 and increasingly positive signs of an increase in activity, Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK give his prognosis of the UK’s subsea sector, which is worth £9billion and supports 50,000 jobs.
U.S. Navy divers from Mobile Diving Salvage Unit 1 aboard USNS Salvor (T-ARS 52) completed removal of fuel oil from the capsized World War II German cruiser, Prinz Eugen, near Enubuj Island, Kawajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, Oct. 15.
