The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for eastern Pennsylvania has named an Elverson company as its Veteran-Owned Business of the Year. Chris Gable, president of Ocean Eye Inc., was recognized by Antonio Leta, SBA’s director for eastern Pennsylvania.
Subsea services company, Rovco is on track to rapidly grow its share of the global subsea market after securing a £1.2m investment, enabling the firm to launch its advanced live 3D subsea survey system and triple its workforce.
Marine salvage company Ardent has formed a partnership with two Greek companies aimed at providing a better response capability in the Eastern Mediterranean and adjacent waters.
The subsea world has seen a lot of action in recent years, with some of the biggest global players joining forces. The creation of JFD, following the 2014 merger of James Fisher Defence and Divex, was a prime example. JFD has kept on growing. A year later, the company bought the National Hyperbaric Centre in Aberdeen to further boost its service offering. Singapore-based dive system manufacturer Lexmar was acquired in 2016 to enhance JFD’s diving system manufacturing capability in the Asia Pacific region.

This year the ADCI will award 2 Scholarships at $4,000.00 each.

This ADCI Scholarship is open to members of the community of all ADCI voting member companies who are current and in good standing with ADCI, with the exception of officers and/or directors of the ADCI Board of Directors or their immediate families. This award is available for any institution of higher learning after high school including universities, colleges, junior colleges, vocational training schools and trade schools. 

Scholarship recipients will be honored at the Awards Dinner at Underwater Intervention 2019.

Pupils from Royal Grammar School in Newcastle have triumphed in the first ever national subsea STEM Challenge final, which saw 30 youngsters from across the UK compete in a dynamic competition to build a floating wind turbine.
Leading subsea training and trials centre, The Underwater Centre, located in the Scottish Highlands, has turned a corner after receiving industry support to secure its future.
Advances in underwater technologies have ushered in a golden age of exploration and discovery, complementing the classic research and detective work skills necessary to find long-lost wrecks, and helping to make our marine heritage accessible to all. ‘As the technology develops, becoming cheaper and more reliable, the challenge for us archaeologists is to think of more creative and ambitious applications for it,’ says Dave Conlin, head of the Submerged Resources Centre at the US National Park Service (NPS).
UUV Aquabotix Ltd, an underwater robotics company with operations in Australia and the U.S., released SwarmDiver™, a micro unmanned surface vehicle (USV) and unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) that operates in a swarm. Multiple SwarmDivers™ can function simultaneously as a single coordinated entity, be easily controlled via one operator on the surface, and perform dives on command to collect valuable intelligence.
