Sound Metrics completed delivery of (4) ARIS Defender Diver-Held High-Resolution Imaging Sonars and associated Topside Supervisory Packages to the Pacific Special Operations Command in Hawaii. The ARIS Defender 3000 systems will be used to provide an accurate identification and classification of previously mapped suspicious underwater targets.
 
Subsea services company, Rovco has appointed Liam Warren as operations manager to support the delivery of complex ROV and survey projects across the globe.
 
About 260 feet of undermined, stressed pipe — nearly a football field’s worth — were left in "an imminent failure condition" after Irma, according to a November inspection report. Now, in an emergency $315,000 underwater repair job, divers are stabilizing these sections of cast-iron water line beneath the Melbourne Causeway that were exposed from the river bottom.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS
TE SubCom, a TE Connectivity Ltd. company (NYSE: TEL) and an industry pioneer in undersea communications technology, with a consortium including Aqua Comms, Bulk Infrastructure, Facebook and Google, today announced that a contract has come into force for TE SubCom to supply the HAVFRUE Cable System. HAVFRUE, the Danish word for mermaid, is the first new cable system in almost two decades that will traverse the North Atlantic to connect mainland Northern Europe to the U.S.A.
 
Bibby Offshore Holdings Limited ("Bibby Offshore" or the "Group"), is delighted to announce that it has completed the recapitalisation of its balance sheet announced on 5 December 2017. The comprehensive agreement on the recapitalisation of its balance sheet was approved by an over-whelming majority of 98.7% of noteholders of the £175 million 7.5% senior secured notes at the Scheme Meeting held on 10 January 2018. The noteholders, which have provided significant support to the business, are now the new owners of the Group.
 
SBG Systems has named Chelsea Fairbank as sales engineer of its North America team. She will be based in Huntington Beach, CA, and will be in charge of the marine and education segments, the company informed.
 
NEW PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGY
A breakthrough in electric torque tool technology is set to further advance the capability of electric underwater robotic vehicles. A new lightweight electric torque tool is being launched globally in a collaboration agreement between Saab Seaeye, the world leader in electric underwater e-robotic systems, and Australia-based Total Marine Technology (TMT).
