DETAILS
Since there are various types of support to General Members provided by Associate Members, it became increasingly clear to the Association that more defined guidelines were needed for the Associate Membership category.

Purpose:
To provide Guidelines for the category of Associate Membership in the ADCI.

General:
Definition:  Associate Members (corporation, firm, partnership, organization or other association) provide services, manufacturing, supplies, goods, or is otherwise involved in business in support of that which the General Members are engaged (diving), and who supports the purposes of the ADCI.

• Associate members can only provide diving personnel to a vetted diving contractor (current member in good standing of ADCI or IMCA) to perform diving operations.
  • Associate Members of any type, including Personnel Placement Services Companies, cannot assign/provide diving personnel directly to any client to perform diving operations.
  • Diving personnel may be assigned directly to clients for tasks that do not require the individual to physically dive and/or directly participate in diving operations (for example; inspector, client representative, rigger, Emergency Medical Technician [EMT], Subject Matter Expert or Technical Authority [SME/TA], etc.).

• Associate members can only apply for ADCI application renewals or replacements for diving personnel.
  • The proctoring of exams for renewal of supervisor or LST certifications is permitted.
  • Only Individual applications or applications from General Members will be accepted/processed for advancement of a candidate’s current certification.

* Please note that Associate Member Schools can apply for new Entry Level Tender / Diver certifications on behalf of their graduates.  Associate Members Schools can also apply for certifications on behalf of their qualified instructional staff.

* Associate Members that wish to provide divers directly to clients must apply to become a General Member, meeting all required qualifications and formal ratification.

This Information was sent to further the communication of all industry stakeholders. Safety is the primary concern of the ADCI. Remember: a real-time Job Hazard Analysis is important, but nothing can replace good common sense.

Sincerely,

Phil Newsum
