A Mental Health Summit will take place on August 1, 2018, in Macon-Bibb County to address the depth and breadth of the mental health crisis in Georgia. ACCG is happy to partner with the Georgia Municipal Association on an upcoming series of five workshops across the state on telecommunications issues currently facing Georgia’s local governments. Topics will include the technology and equipment needed to provide wireless and fiber broadband to both urban and rural areas; current telecom law; franchise and right-of-way (ROW) agreements; and federal and state efforts to preempt local government management of the ROW. County commissioners and staff are encouraged to attend.

Georgia is one of 11 states that have been impacted by the current opioid epidemic. In July, a survey will be distributed to help the state assess the impact the crisis is having on counties. ACCG encourages all counties to participate so that your county’s needs, costs and recommendations are considered in the development of the states strategic plan.
