Three dates have been set for the month of June: Thursday, June 2, Monday, June 6 and Monday, June 20. County officials that are unable to attend the meetings may participate by listening in via webinar.

ACCG Summer Regional meetings are designed to provide county officials with information on ACCG’s Member Services Programs. Participants will hear presentations from vendors who have been successful in working with counties throughout the state. There is no cost to attend and county officials will receive three hours of continuing education credit through the ACCG Lifelong Learning Academy for attending.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has officially set December 1, 2016 as the start date to changes made to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The new rule change will essentially provide overtime (and comp time) to more employees.

ACCG welcomes new summer interns Erin Shumaker, Preston Cox, Branson Mikell, and returning intern Chad Cox. Each semester, the association hires interns to assist the policy, research, legal and communications staff with various projects. Over the course of their internship through August, each intern will be given the opportunity to attend policy meetings, interact with ACCG staff and learn about county government issues.

The ACCG-Interlocal Risk Management Agency (ACCG-IRMA) Board of Trustees recently declared a dividend in the amount of $2.75 million. The dividend is intended to benefit the long-term participants of the program and marks the 14th consecutive year that ACCG-IRMA has declared a return to it members.

The general primary election for Georgia, held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, included 465 county commissioner positions for 155 counties. Georgia has a total of 816 county commissioner positions statewide. In this election cycle, 465 (57 percent) of these positions were up for election including 374 incumbents and 91 open seats.
