ACCG will host the second year of its District Days at the Capitol in February and March 2016. District Days at the Capitol will allow county officials to hear directly from state leaders on key issues while the General Assembly is in session. Realizing that the beginning of the 2016 session of the Georgia General Assembly is quickly approaching, ACCG is requesting the assistance of all counties to help ensure successful communication. The association is asking that all counties confirm or appoint a County Legislative Coordinator (CLC) to serve as the main point-of-contact during the session.

ACCG welcomes new fall policy intern, Gus Elliott, and returning research interns, Kelly Parry and Elijah Anderson. Each semester, the association hires interns to assist the policy and research staff with various projects. Over the course of their internship through December, each intern will be given the opportunity to attend policy meetings, interact with ACCG staff and learn about county government issues.

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) has opened the project solicitation period for 2016 Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds (SRF). The SRFs provide low-interest financing for publicly-owned water and waste water projects. The deadline is Thursday, December 31.

The State Road & Tollway Authority (SRTA) recently launched the GO! Transit Capital Program. GO! Transit is a competitive funding program designed to address some of the critical capital-related public transportation needs throughout the state. The deadline to apply is Sunday, January 31, 2016.

Many counties, sheriffs' departments and cities have combined forces to develop multi-jurisdictional drug task forces, sometimes with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the federal government. The intergovernmental agreements for these task forces vary significantly in their terms, particularly in the amount of consideration given to how much liability each governmental entity has for the actions of the drug task force.
