As the 2014 legislative session is now one month away, it becomes critical for each county to designate or update their county legislative coordinator (CLC). ACCG asks that each county chairman officially designate a CLC by adopting a resolution. The CLC will be responsible for receiving legislative updates and keeping their commissioners current on legislation of importance to counties.

The county governing authority is required to set and publish the qualifying fees for county offices by Feb.1, 2014. All county commissioners should adopt a resolution setting the qualifying fee for each county office. ACCG has provided an explanation of how to calculate the fees.

The ACCG Group Self-Insurance Workers Compensation Fund (ACCG-GSIWCF) Board of Trustees recently voted to return a dividend in the amount of $3.5 million to members who renew their membership for 2014. This year's dividend represents a 7.6 percent increase over last year's $3.25 million.

The newly consolidated government of Macon-Bibb County has elected to participate in the ACCG-Group Health Benefits Program (ACCG-GHBP). The ACCG-GHBP, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, provides health insurance and wellness benefits to its membership of 105 counties, authorities and consolidated governments .

The deadline to submit your nomination for the Servant's Heart Award is quickly approaching! County commissioners are encouraged to nominate a local youth who has made a difference in their community through volunteerism. All nominations must be submitted to the Governor's Office for Children and Families no later than Jan. 2, 2014.
