State law requires that counties annually submit three immigration reports-the Public Benefits/SAVE Report, the E-Verify Public Contractor Report and the Business License/Private Employer Report in order to stay in compliance with Georgia’s immigration requirements. Failure to submit these reports in a timely manner may result in loss of qualified local government status among other penalties. There are several training opportunities available in November on how to complete and submit these reports. Please visit the ACCG website at www.accg.org for more details.

As a result of Georgia House Bill 1093, Georgia counties and municipalities will now have the unique opportunity to increase local tax revenue by sharing their business occupational license information with the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR). Georgia House Bill 1093 provides that the DOR is authorized to receive this information from Georgia county and municipal governments, and will use the information to verify that the business is registered for sales and use tax, when required. This program is known as the Business Occupational Tax Submittal System (BOTSS).
