ACCG is launching a new way to keep Georgia’s county officials informed and connected. County officials may now sign up to receive text messages about ACCG conference reminders, important alerts like grant deadlines, and legislative advocacy updates. 
  
Created by the ACCG Board of Managers in 2025, the ACCG-Jerry R. Griffin Scholarship is a non-competitive scholarship that will reimburse county officials and/or staff for expenses associated with attending ACCG and NACo conferences in 2026 and 2027. The scholarship program portal to set up your county's is now open. To ensure your account is set up prior to the first submission period, please designate someone from your county to create an account as soon as possible.
  
Many county leaders are aware of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s (EPD) Solid Waste Trust Fund (SWTF), which provides grants funded by the state’s one-dollar fee on every new tire sold. However, many local leaders don’t realize that every county in Georgia is eligible for this funding. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GAEPD) anticipates receiving Section 319(h) funds to prevent or abate nonpoint source pollution in support of Georgia’s Statewide Nonpoint Source Management Plan. Using a competitive process, GAEPD will award grant funds to eligible projects that propose to address nonpoint sources of pollution.
  
State legislators are taking a hard look at Georgia’s forest industry challenges. A new report from the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) details the impacts of recent mill closures to the state’s economy and to affected Georgians.
  
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety is now taking applications for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) grants. Grant applications must be submitted via the GOHS grant management system no later than 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 5.

This statewide initiative recognizes and celebrates the essential contributions of county government finance professionals and their critical role in ensuring fiscal stewardship, transparency, and public trust across Georgia’s counties.
