Nominations for the 2026 Georgia County Excellence Awards are due next Friday, Dec. 12, 2025. Counties that have taken innovative and cost-effective approaches to solving local issues with local programs and initiatives are encouraged to apply.
  
The nomination window is now open for the 2026 ACCG Awards and Recognition Program. Help us recognize the exceptional leaders in local government by nominating a county official in your community for one of ACCG's prestigious leadership awards. All applications must be submitted by Friday, Feb. 13, 2026.
  
Save the date for the 2026 Capitol Connection Conference. Join the ACCG Governmental Affairs team, state leaders, and your county peers on March 4-5, 2026, at The American Hotel in Fulton County to get the latest policy updates and learn more about trending state issues. Registration will open soon.
  
The Board of Trustees of the ACCG - Group Self-Insurance Workers’ Compensation Fund (GSIWCF) recently voted to decrease the overall rates by 11.4% for 2026. The Board also voted to return a dividend in the amount of $4.5 million to those members who renew their membership for 2026.
  
ACCG is launching a new way to keep Georgia’s county officials informed and connected. County officials may now sign up to receive text messages about ACCG conference reminders, important alerts like grant deadlines, and legislative advocacy updates. 
  
Students participating in the Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP) gain invaluable, hands-on experience while contributing to meaningful projects in their local communities. Read about how one intern was able to pursue her interest in local government and expand her skillset.
  
The engagement that Georgia county officials have with both ACCG and our national partner, the National Association of Counties (NACo) is of vital importance. Through the ACCG-Jerry Griffin Scholarship Program, county commissioners and/or appointed officials will have the opportunity to further engage with both ACCG and NACo starting in 2026 and throughout 2027.

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) 2026 Water Financing Call for Projects closes this month. To be eligible for funding, submit a pre-application by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025.
  
Each year, counties are required to submit an immigration report to the Department of Audits and Accounts (DOAA). The reporting portal will close on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025. Counties must submit reports by the deadline to be in compliance.
  
Need equipment or supplies for your county? Agencies, nonprofits, and small businesses can enroll in the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) Surplus Property Program to request necessary equipment and items for their county.

Registration is now open for the 2026 NACo Legislative Conference. The conference will take place Feb. 21- 24 in Washington, D.C. Attendees have the opportunity to engage in policy and educational sessions, interact with federal officials, and participate in congressional briefings and meetings.
