ACCG and Georgia Trend magazine, the state's leading business publication, are partnering to honor counties that have taken innovative and cost-effective approaches to solving local issues through the Georgia County Excellence Awards. The nomination deadline is Friday, Dec.12. 
  
Students participating in the Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP) gain invaluable, hands-on experience while contributing to meaningful projects in their local communities. Read about how one intern enhanced his technical media skills and explored his interests through work with county government.
  
The engagement that Georgia county officials have with both ACCG and our national partner, the National Association of Counties (NACo) is of vital importance. Through the ACCG-Jerry Griffin Scholarship Program, county commissioners and/or appointed officials will have the opportunity to further engage with both ACCG and NACo starting in 2026 and throughout 2027.
  
The Legislative Service Awards program recognizes the efforts of state legislators and celebrates collaboration and legislative successes for counties. Read about the efforts of the legislators who were recognized for their contributions in fulfilling ACCG's mission of advancing Georgia’s 159 counties.

Each year, counties are required to submit an immigration report to the Department of Audits and Accounts (DOAA). The reporting portal is now open and available for submissions until Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025. 
  
Need equipment or supplies for your county?  Agencies, nonprofits, and small businesses can enroll in the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) Surplus Property Program to request necessary equipment and items for their county.
  
The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) 2026 Water Financing Call for Projects period is now open. To be eligible for funding, submit a pre-application by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31.
  
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) will host two in-person information sessions to help local governments learn how their communities can benefit from $50 million in disaster recovery funding for public infrastructure projects. This funding supports recovery from Hurricane Idalia, Tropical Storm Debby, and Hurricane Helene.

Join the National Association of Counties (NACo) in showing your support for veterans by lighting your county buildings green from Nov. 4–11. By shining a green light, county governments will let veterans in our communities know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.
  
Registration is now open for the 2026 NACo Legislative Conference. The conference will take place February 21- 24 in Washington, D.C. Attendees have the opportunity to engage in policy and educational sessions, interact with federal officials, and participate in congressional briefings and meetings.
