ACCG Welcomes Summer Interns

Jessica Berman received her undergraduate degree in political science from Georgia State University (GSU) and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration at GSU. Berman discovered her passion for local government working for the Cobb County Public Library System. Prior to her internship with ACCG, she completed two internships with the Georgia House of Representatives. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, paddle boarding, and board games. After graduating, she hopes to work in a position of leadership in local governance.  During her internship, Berman will assist with county 2020 Census efforts, research emergency declaration requirements, analyze, update, and review county official salary information, research design standards, and other research tasks as assigned.

Luke Owens received his undergraduate degree in business economics from GSU and will begin law school there in the fall.  Owens has interned in the areas of economic development and research and publics affairs for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Z/Yen Group, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Instinctif Partners UK, and GeorgiaLink Public Affairs Group. In his spare time, he enjoys reading history and political philosophy and spending time with his fiancé. Upon graduating law school, Owens plans to pursue a career in corporate and complex litigation in Atlanta. During his internship, Owens will compile county revenue and expenditure data, update the SPLOST database, research timber harvest ordinances, and other research tasks as assigned.

Kevin Fitzgerald received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and is currently a third year law student at Emory University. Previously, he worked at a small law firm in Sandy Springs and was an extern with Georgia Lawyers for the Arts. Upon graduating in May 2020, Fitzgerald hopes to begin his legal career in Atlanta. In his free time, Fitzgerald is currently teaching himself how to play the guitar and enjoys hiking with his fiancé, Christy, and dog, Captain. During his clerkship with ACCG, Fitzgerald will assist the legal department with deed research, contract review, updating legal publications, and other legal research tasks as assigned.
