GDOT partners with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to help local governments pursue non traditional transportation projects to improve the quality of life for citizens in their communities. Through the Transportation Alternatives Program, communities are awarded funding to pursue projects such as Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities, Streetscape Improvements and Safe Routes to School Program.
