Georgia’s annual Enviornmental Protection Division (EPD) ban on outdoor burning, mostly in the northern half of the state, ends September 30 https://epd.georgia.gov/air-protection-branch/open-burning-rules-georgia/summer-open-burning-ban/summer-legal-burn-map. On October 1, those landowners will again be permitted to burn leaf piles and vegetative matter on their property without a burn permit. The law does require a burner take full responsibility for the safety of their fire and any damages that may result from flying embers. GFC foresters will begin reporting on North Georgia fall foliage conditions later this month. Information about species, colorful viewing options, the effects of weather, and special events can be found throughout October at GaTrees.org and on several Atlanta media outlets.
